Marcelo de Forbes Kneese is a Partner at Brasilpar since 2020, where he is responsible for Debt Structuring & Corporate Finance Advisory, besides the origination and execution of M&A transactions. Marcelo has over 25 years of financial markets experience in the areas of Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Corporate Structured Finance and Derivatives. Marcelo is an approved Investment Fund Manager (“gestor de fundos”) by CVM.  Prior to joining Brasilpar he acted as Managing Partner of TGX Capital (2009-2019), as Partner at Vergent Partners (2003-2008), as a Director of Investment Banking at ING Bank NV (2001-02), and as a Vice President of Corporate Finance at The Chase Manhattan Bank (1989-2000) in São Paulo and New York.

Marcelo has longstanding experience in M&A, Capital Markets and Structured Finance, acting as an investment banker or financial advisor with successful track record with clients from Midia & Telecom, Commodities, Pet Food, Sugar & Ethanol, and Industrials among other sectors. Amongst other recent transactions we highlight the sale of pet food operations of Grupo Guabi to the Spanish group Agrolimen, the sale of Editora Atlas to GEN, the acquisition of Setormed by private investors, the spin-off and sale of Mappel Packaging unit to the French Bioplan and of the Mappel Nutrition unit to Mead Johnson, the private placement capital raise of R$60 MM to Novocim´s cement project finance, the acquisition of Destilaria Alcidia by ETH Bioenergia SA, and the R$100 million structured loans for GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes S.A.

Marcelo holds an MBA from New York University, a B.A. in Law from São Francisco Law School (USP), and a B.A. in Business Administration from FAAP.  Marcelo also has significant teaching experience, having taught as Professor of Corporate Finance at FAAP’s MBA and Capital Markets at FAAP´s BA in Business Administration programs, as well as professor of Corporate Finance at the Masters of International Commerce at USP – University of São Paulo.
